Chesterfield lays claim to be the birthplace of the 1688 English revolution, as visitors will discover at Revolution House. Locals claim that his former alehouse was the spot where the local nobleman met to construct their nefarious plot to overthrow King James II. Chesterfield's not all daggers and treason though: lovers of horticulture can visit one of the town's oldest walled gardens at the Dunston Hall Garden Centre, which is open year round.
