Cromer Holidays

Cromer Holiday – A Victorian Resort
When you holiday in Cromer, you visit one of Norfolk’s most famous seaside resorts. Cromer became enormously popular during the 19th century, and while many of us seek warmer holidays abroad in the sun, the Norfolk coast remains a big draw, particularly during the summer months. Sometimes called the Gem of the Norfolk Coast, Cromer remains in many ways unchanged from its Victorian heyday, with the streets lined with Victorian homes and an interesting selection of individual shops, restaurants and pubs. Holiday accommodation of all sorts is available either in Cromer itself or the surrounding towns and villages; everything from B&Bs and hotels to self-catering holiday cottages, caravan parks and campsites.

Holidays Cromer - Walking and Activity Holiday
Whether for a charming family holiday by the sea, a relaxing weekend away or an activity holiday such as cycling or sea fishing, there’s plenty to do in Cromer. This part of the Norfolk coast was named Poppyland by 19th century journalist Clement Scott, and the burst of colour is just one of the reasons it’s a popular location for walking holidays, along with two dedicated walking tracks: the Norfolk Coastal Path and the Weavers' Way. There are over 90 miles of Norfolk Coast Cycleway along the coast, and you can easily reach Kings Lynn and Great Yarmouth on two wheels. Golfing holidays are another option, thanks to the cliffside Royal Norfolk Golf Club, and if you want things to do for the kids, you’ll find big cats and other wildlife at the Amazona zoo park.

Cromer Holidays - Attractions
In Cromer itself, there are other attractions to explore, including the Church of St Peter and St Paul, the Hotel de Paris, which overlooks the pier, and Cromer Hall, which was rebuilt following fire in 1829. Back in 1901 Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stayed at the hall while on a golfing holiday in Cromer, and it’s believed that the local myth of a ghostly black dog named Black Shuck was the inspiration for his novel The Hound of the Baskervilles. Whether it’s a step back in time you want from a Norfolk holiday or relaxing seaside break punctuated with activities, Cromer is the perfect location.
