East Sussex offers almost everything you could wish for out of a short break or weekend away in south east England. But focusing on Brighton would be a criminal disservice to what else is on offer in East Sussex. Indulge in some romance and history in the medieval streets of Battle and Rye; absorb the seaside charms of Worthing, Eastbourne and Hove; or find your own way through the picturesque countryside of the South Downs and see for yourself the famous white cliffs at Beachy Head.

 

Being such a mixing bowl of different identities, you would struggle to be stuck for something to do in East Sussex, and what's more, there are few counties as budget-friendly as this one. Pander to your inner adventurer and wander off the beaten track into the South Downs. Your reward will be finding yourself surrounded by areas of outstanding natural beauty and stunning vistas. Follow the South Downs eastward to find Beachy Head, where the sheer white cliffs are truly a sight to behold. Once the summer fades there are still reasons to come back to East Sussex. Lewes, in particular, comes alive in November thanks to its famous bonfire and fireworks nights where there are some truly spectacular pyrotechnic displays.
