Grimsby is still home to the largest fish market in the UK, and the shopping in Grimsby generally is excellent and well-known throughout Lincolnshire. Grimsby’s sights aren’t just sea-related either; the People’s Park is beautiful open parkland, as is Weelsby Woods; Waltham Windmill is worth a visit and the church, Grimsby Minster, dates back to the early 12th century.

Of course most Grimsby holiday visitors want to walk the Lincolnshire Wolds, explore the North Sea coastline and make day trips to nearby Kingston-upon-Hull, York, and Cleethorpes. Cleethorpes is a holiday resort and home to the Pleasure Island Theme Park and Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway; both favourites for family holidays in the Midlands. Hull, as well as possessing some stunning architecture, is home to The Deep, a spectacular underwater aquarium that’s home to breathtaking coral and over 3,500 fish, including fish that glow in the dark, octopus and more than 40 sharks. Back on land, a visit to Fort Paull, a Napoleonic fortress featuring waxworks, battle re-enactments, underground tunnels and military aircraft.
