Harlech Holidays

Harlech Holidays – Picturesque Welsh resort

Book a holiday in Harlech for a unique experience. Harlech is a seaside resort town in Gwynedd, North Wales. The north-west Wales coast provides beautiful beaches, perfect for family UK holidays by the seaside, with Harlech looking out over sand dune banked beaches onto Tremadog Bay. This is not a tourist destination swarming with holidaymakers, but a quiet, pretty and relatively secluded area which enjoys some of the best weather in north Wales. Look out to the Irish Sea in one direction, then turn back inland for an incredible view of the region’s mountains – the Rhinogydd mountain range. Harlech lies within Snowdonia National Park, Britain’s third national park, after the Peak District and the Lake District. Of course, the proximity of this stunning and diverse terrain makes this the perfect location for rock climbing and UK walking holidays.

Holidays in Harlech – Historic sites and important architecture
Harlech isn’t just blessed with natural history – mankind has made his mark here too. No holiday in Harlech would be complete without a visit to Harlech Castle, which was built in the 13th century by Edward I of England and later belonged to Henry VII. Originally a seaside fortress, the coastline has changed over the centuries so this stunning example of medieval architecture now sits atop a cliff about half a mile inland. Its importance has seen it recognised as a World Heritage Site. It’s not the only ancient monument though; St Tanwg's Church at Llandanwg dates back to AD435, making it older than Canterbury Cathedral.

Harlech Holidays – Plenty to do for everyone
So if you are looking for walking holidays, UK adventure holidays, UK seaside holidays or historical tours, you are more than catered for. Diverse and beautiful scenery makes this the ideal location for a romantic weekend away as well as for a family holiday. Pony trekking keeps the children entertained and provides an insight into the local environment; mountain biking is also popular and the sea provides plenty of watersports, especially sailing. If you would like to work on your golf handicap, where better than one of Wales’s leading golf clubs, Royal St David's?
