Matlock Bath Holidays

The warm springs discovered in 1698 have made Matlock Bath a popular UK holiday spot amongst the countries gentry. It wasn't until 1840, and the completion of the railway, that regular tourists began to enjoy the towns 68-degree warm springs. The baths are still there, but now are home to a large collection of carp in the town's aquarium. Since then the town has developed into one of the more popular tourist destinations just outside the Peak District, with the aforementioned aquarium exhibiting tropical fish from around the world and the popular climbing cliff of High Tor.

The Peak District Mining Museum is a must see in Matlock Bath. This converted dance hall houses a lot of the equipment and clothes used by the former Derbyshire Lead mining industry. The family can even explore climbing shafts and the ominously named hazard tunnel.

For lovers of the outdoors, what better way to experience the surrounding picturesque landscapes than by hopping on a cable car up to the Heights of Abraham? Visitors will be transported over the Derwent Valley, and once at the top they can explore the show caves or stroll around the hilltop park.
