The warm springs discovered in 1698 have made Matlock Bath a popular UK holiday spot amongst the countries gentry. It wasn't until 1840, and the completion of the railway, that regular tourists began to enjoy the towns 68-degree warm springs. The baths are still there, but now are home to a large collection of carp in the town's aquarium.
