St Austell Holidays – Self-catering holidays in Cornwall
Cornwall is a popular UK holiday destination, and in St Austell you’ll find plenty of country caravans, bungalows and lodges to host your seaside holiday or weekend away. St Austell is the largest town in Cornwall, just ten miles south of Bodmin Moor and a short distance from the stunning coastal scenery of Charlestown and St Austell Bay. St Austell itself isn’t the prettiest town around, but its perfect location, putting you within an hour’s drive of anywhere in Cornwall, makes it a great place to rent country caravans, bungalows, lodges and apartments. Of course there’s ample hotel and bed and breakfast accommodation too, if self-catering isn’t to your taste.
Holidays in St Austell – Watersports and family seaside holidays
St Austell is a popular location for watersports, bird-watching and family seaside vacations, sitting on the part of the Cornwall coastline known as the Cornish Riviera. Charlestown, on the edge of St Austell, is a fishing harbour with its own beach, and there are further beaches at Porthpean, Pentewan, Carlyon Bay Par, where there’s also a lake drawing huge amounts of birdlife. For quieter times on your beach holiday, Polkerris is pretty, sandy and more secluded, although there’s still the chance to hire pedaloes and boats there. There’s plenty more to do apart from paddle and swim in the sea though: Caerhays Castle and Gardens is a beautiful place to visit; Cornish Leisure World keeps the kids happy; near Mevagissey, the Lost Gardens of Heligan are arranged in various disparate but stunning styles; and of course the famous Eden Project is just three miles away.
