Yoxford Holidays

Yoxford holiday in the Garden of Suffolk
The pretty village of Yoxford lies in east Suffolk about 25 miles north of Ipswich. Holidays in Yoxford provide a wide range of outdoor activities to suit those going on a family holiday. Yoxford is surrounded by beautiful countryside and parkland. In the village itself is Grove Park, antique shops and a celebrated bookshop. Sibton Park is to the north-west of Yoxford, which contains a large fishing lake bound to attract the attention of anyone booking a fishing holiday. Rookery Park borders the south-east of the village and Cockfield Hall, the medieval manor house, is to the north. Holiday accommodation in Yoxford and the surrounding area can take the form of small hotels, such as the Grade II listed 18th century Satis House Hotel which was referenced in Dickens’ Great Expectations. There are also B&Bs dotted around the villages, as well as self-catering holiday cottages to rent.

Yoxford History holidays and Mother Nature
The country parks aren’t the only historic places of interest when you holiday in Yoxford though; the Griffin Inn is the village’s own medieval tavern, the ruins of Sibton Abbey are walking distance away and Leiston Abbey ruins just a few miles away. Framlingham Castle is well worth visiting, as is Orford Castle in Orford. Orford lies in the coast, a lovely place to visit to spend time at the beach, go on coastal walks and visit Orford Ness Nature Reserve. Minsmere Nature Reserve is perfect for birdwatching holidays, and family activities at Easton Farm Park get the children up close to farm animals.

Yoxford - Entertainment and golfing holidays in Suffolk
Yoxford holidays aren’t just about wildlife and ruins though; Long Shop Museum tells the story of local agriculture and steam engines, and Parham Airfield Museum is within easy reach. This part of Suffolk is a great location for golfing holidays, with golf courses at nearby Aldeburgh, Darsham, Halesworth and the picturesque village Southwold. There is a 9-hole course at High Lodge in Hinton too, which is also home to shooting grounds and fishing lakes. Cycling is popular here, and should you visit in August you will catch the arts and entertainment of Yoxford Arts Festival and the Aldeburgh Festival.
